How to set crypto price alerts without watching charts

Choose a coin, a price and a currency. Learn what triggers an email, how often prices are checked, and what happens after a target is reached.

What does a crypto price alert actually do?

A crypto price alert asks a simple question: has the observed price of this coin reached the number I chose? In MyBagAlert, you select a cryptocurrency, set a price and a currency, and receive an email when a fresh provider observation is at or above that threshold.

That is different from a notification saying a coin moved a certain percentage today. The target stays tied to your own number. You can close the browser while the server watches it.

The alert does not place an order. It also does not mean the coin is still at that price when you open your inbox. The email records the value and time of the observation so you can decide what to do next.

How to set a crypto price alert in MyBagAlert

  1. Create your free account and verify your email. Monitoring needs a verified address so the app has somewhere to send the alerts you requested.
  2. Choose “Add a bag” and search for the coin. Check its name as well as its symbol: different assets can share a ticker. Availability depends on the selected market-data provider.
  3. Choose a price target and its currency. Enter the price per coin you want watched. The default account mode is alerts only, so you can do this without supplying a holding quantity or purchase cost.
  4. Choose your reminder setting. Use one email only, or reminders every hour, six hours or day after the initial alert.
  5. Save the bag and target. Your dashboard shows monitoring status and when quotes were last observed. Check that your email is verified and the target is active.

For a worked example, suppose you choose a price target of 2.00 USD for a hypothetical token. A fresh observation of 1.99 USD does not meet it. An observation of 2.00 USD or 2.03 USD does. These numbers illustrate the comparison; they are not suggested targets for any asset.

If the market is already above your threshold when you create an active target, the next qualifying observation can trigger it. The app does not require the price to fall below your target and then cross it again.

Keep the currency and monitoring interval in mind

A target of 2.00 GBP is different from a target of 2.00 USD. MyBagAlert supports 12 fiat currencies, and each target keeps its own currency. Changing the currency used to display your dashboard does not change targets you have already saved.

Prices are checked periodically. With CoinMarketCap, the minimum polling interval is 10 minutes; the configured interval can be longer. Requests can also be delayed by provider availability, usage limits or operational problems. This is not a live exchange feed, and a brief spike between observations can be missed.

Missing or stale quotes do not trigger targets. Use the dashboard’s timestamps and status when you want to check whether monitoring has current data. A price alert is useful for watching a milestone, but it cannot guarantee a price at which you can trade.

What happens after your target is reached?

A reached target does not fire a new initial email on every price check. If you enabled repeat reminders, they refer to that recorded event. They do not promise that the price remains above the threshold.

  • Acknowledge stops reminders for the event. It does not record a sale.
  • Snooze delays reminders for 24 hours.
  • Pause stops that target and its reminders.
  • Rearm starts another alert cycle. A fresh observation can trigger it even if the price is already above the threshold.

To change the threshold, pause the old target and add a replacement. You can keep several targets on one bag when you have more than one milestone to watch.

Common questions about crypto email alerts

Can I use this without connecting my wallet?

Yes. Add coins and targets manually. MyBagAlert does not need wallet access, an exchange connection or your average buy price to watch an alert.

Are price alerts free?

The permanent free plan covers up to 10 distinct cryptos, with no card required. A paid plan for more cryptos is planned, but checkout is not available yet.

Can I set a downside alert?

The current trigger is at or above a chosen price or circulating market cap. Below-price and stop-loss alerts are not currently supported.

When should I use a market-cap target instead?

Use the metric that matches the number in your plan. If you are thinking about a project’s circulating valuation rather than a price per token, read the market-cap vs price guide. For multiple milestones and optional sale amounts, see the take-profit alert guide.
